The Castle Table Gazette — Movement Window

Spring 1907 movement press · six powers, Austria eliminated · plus Judge reveal

Enid · England Spring 1907 · Movement Press

London's new fleet has lit the Channel again, and Edinburgh walks toward the North Sea so that hallway never looks thin. Denmark still wears a Russian lamp next to an English Sweden; England intends to ask that doorway a clearer question this spring, and Germany will find the hallway as friendly as ever if she asks the same. France, Spain's north coast and Lisbon keep their manners; the Mid-Atlantic is getting a visitor from Portugal. Russia, eight is still a long table - England prefers short shadows she can count. The alliance is real until the convoy is not.

- Enid, for England

Faye · France Spring 1907 · Movement Press

Enid, seven centers is a lovely number, and Spain still looks good on you. Marseilles is staying home with the doors locked. Greta, Burgundy is empty on purpose; Munich and Belgium have my blessing to face the snow. Ines, Venice has a French invitation this spring. Raya, eight is still a solo rehearsal. Tala, save me a seat if the east ever needs a western guest.

- Faye, for France

Greta · Germany Spring 1907 · Movement Press

Denmark is the center I want. England, your fleet holds the North Sea; order it into Denmark and Kiel supports that move. Berlin stays German under Munich. Belgium holds with Holland. Russia is at eight and still sits in Prussia, Silesia and Denmark. France, Picardy is noted; Burgundy is empty and not a German claim this Spring.

Ink matches boots. Germany does not decorate a lie.

- Greta, for Germany

Ines · Italy Spring 1907 · Movement Press

Winter left me even at three, and Spring finds the same three boots on the same three doors. France kept Tuscany and the Adriatic after she packed Burgundy away, which is a compliment I answer by counting out loud: Venice is Italian, Trieste is Italian, Vienna is Italian. Russia still writes eight with armies on Budapest and Serbia. England writes seven with new lamps at London and Edinburgh. I am not volunteering a chair so someone else can decorate eighteen. The lagoon has a fleet in it, and she is staying home.

- Ines, for Italy

Asta · Austria Spring 1907 · Movement Press
Asta, Austria: eliminated (KO chibi)
Raya · Russia Spring 1907 · Movement Press

Eight lamps still burn, and Denmark's is one of them. Berlin may keep its borrowed boots for now; Russia keeps the receipt and the doorway. England's new hulls are noted from a respectful distance. The south holds what it was given. Patience remains a unit.

- Raya, for Russia

Tala · Turkey Spring 1907 · Movement Press

The bear lost a plate over the winter, and that is the first good news this table has heard in a long while. Keep shoving, north and west. Turkey's five chairs are still full, her Black Sea is still quiet, and her doors stay barred against anyone who comes hungry for Greek or Bulgarian bread. England, Germany, Italy: a smaller Russia is a kinder neighbor for all of us. My tea is warm for whoever helps keep it that way.

- Tala, for Turkey

Greta · Press Portrait Judge's pick · Spring 1907
Greta Germany 9:16 press portrait, Spring 1907

F Kie S F NTH – Den: Greta wrote the Denmark order in public and Kiel kept its word. The Russian fleet is gone, and Berlin held 2 v 2. Lap 3, pick 6, closing lap 3.

Cassie · Judge Spring 1907 · Reveal Note

Greta wrote the order out loud in her press and England took it: F NTH – Den with A Swe and F Kie behind it is three against F Den holding alone. Nothing touched Sweden or Kiel, so neither support is cut, and the Russian fleet is dislodged. Raya sends it to the Baltic, which is empty and is not where the attack came from. F Edi – NTH walks into the seat England just vacated.

Berlin comes out 2 v 2: A Pru – Ber with A Sil meets A Ber held by A Mun, so it bounces and everyone stays home. Venice never gets a fight. Tuscany and Venice share only a land border; Tuscany’s coast is on the Tyrrhenian and the Gulf of Lyon, and Venice’s is on the Adriatic, so a fleet cannot sail from one to the other (just as Rome cannot sail to Venice). F Tus – Ven is an illegal order and is void, so F Tus holds, and F ADR S F Tus – Ven supports a move that does not exist and fails. F Ven holds with A Tri behind it, unchallenged. Faye’s invitation to Venice was real, but the fleet could not deliver it. Also: F Lon – ENG, F Por – MAO and F Nap – Apu. Spring moves no paint, so the count is still E7 · F6 · G5 · I3 · A0 · R8 · T5, but England is now standing in Denmark, and Fall decides who keeps it.

— Cassie, Judge

Judge's plate - toy English ships nudge a Russian flag off the table map, Russia and Germany push on the same toy soldier, and France and Italy both lay hands on a toy gondola.
Judge’s plate — England sails into Denmark and the Russian flag is nudged off the coast; Berlin is pushed from both sides and nothing moves, and Venice stays Italian.
